The Feldman Swing Club, said to have been Britain's first jazz club, opens at Mac's Restaurant, 100 Oxford Street, London, England, UK, Europe. The opening night line-up features Kenny Baker, Tommy Bromley, Bobby Midgley, Tommy Pollard, Jimmy Skidmore, Frank Weir and guest artists The Feldman Trio. The tiny venue will become legendary under the name The 100 Club for its jazz and rock gigs.
American music trade magazine Billboard introduces its Harlem Hit Parade Chart, to reflect increasing sales of specialist black music. The Ink Spots are featured with three tracks on the first chart. Over the years the chart will change its name, becoming Rhythm And Blues in 1949, Soul Music in 1968 and Black Music in 1982.
