The musical comedy Annie Get Your Gun, by Irving Berlin, is presented during a run of 1,147 performances at The Imperial Theatre, Broadway, New York City, USA.US music trade publication Billboard notes that Leonard Chess has been added to the sales staff of Chicago's Aristocrat Records. In fact, by this point, Chess is already wholesaling Aristocrat product from the trunk of his Buick. He and his brother Phil Chess will go on to found the influential Chess Records.
