Revered jazz bassist Red Mitchell dies, aged 65, of a stroke in Salem, Oregon. In a long and acclaimed career, Mitchell worked with Charlie Ventura, Woody Herman, The Red Norvo Trio, The Gerry Mulligan Quartet, Andre Previn, Hampton Hawes and Billie Holiday to name but a few.
