A 'Hello Girls' dance is held at Society Hall, Exchange Street, Bangor, Maine, USA. In order to get to know their colleagues, telephone operators [nicknamed 'Hello Girls'] from the Bangor exchange of the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company organised the dance for their fellow switchboard operators from Orono, Ellsworth, Bucksport and other nearby communities. Only 'eligibles' are allowed to attend.
