Fact #98381

When:

Short story:

The Kinks play at The Town Hall, Oxford, UK.

Full article:

Dave Davies (Guitarist, The Kinks] : Pete Quaife (bassist) was important to us at that time too. He acted as the catalyst for me and Ray. Although Pete was very jealous of Ray, because they'd been in the same year at school and Ray was always the better sportsman and everything. But Pete and I became great friends because we both liked outrageous things. We'd meet at lunchtimes when I had a job at Selmers and he worked for a fashion magazine, and we'd go round looking for silly clothes, and he'd find like PVC clothes which later became kinky leather, and we didn't care. We'd just wear it. So there were all these other elements going on, that all added up to what The Kinks became.
