Alexis Korner : By August the club would open at 7.30 and be full at 8.30. We were close to the house record every performance and rarely had less than 750. By mid-September we never had less than 1,000 a night. In December, Harold (Harold Pendleton, owner of The Marquee] asked us to open on Monday.
