Max Ehrmann obtains United States federal copyright No. 962402 for his poem Desiderata, essentially a list of pieces of advice for living a useful and contented life. The poem will be turned into the worldwide hit song Desiderata by Les Crane in 1971. Crane's recording will, in turn, inspire a parody by National Lampoon entitled Deteriorata.
