machine-gunned by Chilean government soldiers. His body is
dumped on the outskirts of Santiago, Chile, South America. The 2008
song Victor
Jara's Hands by Calexico is about his life
and influence, and makes reference to the fact that the bones of
his hands were broken by his military torturers in the days before
he died. Victor Jara's death is also referenced in The Clash's 1980
song Washington Bullets.
