Fact #86677

When:

Short story:

Dire Straits get their first airplay when Radio London deejay Charlie Gillett plays a demo of their song Sultans Of Swing on his radio show, Honky Tonk. Guitarist Mark Knopfler and the other members of the band are helping a friend move house, so they do not even hear the broadcast which will, in due course, win them a recording contract with Phonogram Records. Later on this evening, they play at The Albany, London, UK.
