Brian Wilson : Listening to The Four Freshmen taught me how to make harmonies. I would work out exactly which harmonies they were using and then me and my brothers and Mike Love would use those harmonies, those major seventh chords, and minors and minor sevenths. You can hear those kinds of Four Freshmen harmonies right through my career. It's there very clearly in Surfer Girl which was 1963, and it's there in that a capella thing I did, One For The Boys, on my solo album in 1988. [interview with Johnny Black for Mojo Collections]
