Marvin Schlacter (co-founder, Scepter Records] : The way we found Dionne Warwicke was involved with both Burt Bacharach and The Shirelles. Burt had come up and played a demo for us of a song he had written that he thought would be good for The Shirelles. Well, we didn't think it was quite right for them, but we felt, hey, that girl sounds good. Wouldn't it be a good idea, you know, if we go on and record that girl? So we got Dionne on Scepter right away.
