One of the first electronic pop hits, Popcorn by Hot Butter, enters the Billboard Top 40 Singles chart in the USA where it will peak at No9 during a 12-week run on the chart. The song, composed by Gershon Kingsley of electronic duo Perrey And Kingsley, is the first primarily electronic-based piece of music to reach the American popular music charts. (1972)
