Del Shannon : I was doing it four months before we recorded it. It was one of the most requested songs in the club I was playing. I was doing Conway Twitty and Elvis songs. Then I did Runaway and it was one of the most requested songs. So we went to New York and we recorded that and Jody in an hour and a half. And, in the other hour and a half - it was a three hour session - they recorded The Snake and something else by Max Crook. Max also played the instrumental on there.
