Pirate radio station Radio Caroline begins test broadcasts from a former Danish passenger ferry, the Fredericia, now re-named Caroline. The ship is anchored three miles off the coast of Felixstowe, Suffolk, UK, just outside British territorial waters, thus enabling the station to broadcast to the UK without breaking any laws.
