Short story:

Hitmaking crooner Perry Como records Ko Ko Mo - a cover of an r'n'b hit on Combo Records for Gene And Eunice - at Webster Hall, New York City, USA, with the Mitchell Ayres Orchestra and the Ray Charles Singers. The song is also covered by The Crew-Cuts, The Dooley Sisters and, in the UK, by Frankie Vaughan. Billboard magazine notes later in the month that, "Music with an R'n'B beat is no longer regarded as a passing phase by major recording firms."
