A front page headline in the New York Times declares "Innocent Girls Arrested", making public a developing scandal in which New York police have been arresting young women on false charges of immorality and prostitution, then demanding bribes to buy their freedom and save their reputations. Irving Berlin will be inspired by this scandal to write Torch Song for his 1932 Broadway show Face The Music.
