Paul McCartney : It was when we were surprise guests at the EMI Spectacular Show that we really thought we'd made it. We had only made one record, Love Me Do, and Muriel Young introduced us by our Christian names only. She got as far as 'John, Paul …' and then suddenly the place went wild. Usually it takes a couple of years for a group to be recognised by their first names but, boy, that really knocked us out.
