Short story:

Full article:

Richard Lester (film director) : I met Paul in the Playhouse Theatre in London in 1963 when The Beatles were rehearsing a radio show. We were asked to sniff round each other like dogs to see whether we would get on. What came out was that we each knew the kind of film we didn't want to make and, mercifully, we coincided. They'd seen a short film of mine that they liked, the Running Jumping Standing Still Film, and they soon found out I was possibly the world's worst jazz piano player, so they could have a good laugh at that.
