Fact #35109

When:

Short story:

Blues-based rock guitarist and songwriter Aynsley Lister releases a new album, Home, on Straight Talkin' Records in the UK.

Full article:

Leicester-born guitarist, singer and songwriter Lister stands at the head of the UK's contemporary blues scene because he's not just a terrific axeman, but also an imaginative composer and vocalist who makes this most traditional of musical forms come alive for contemporary music fans. His original songs here, like the dynamic Broke and the celebratory Free, are superb. Ultimately, though, it's Lister's unexpected cover of the Tony Newley/Leslie Bricusse standard Feeling Good that best reveals his increasing maturity. To tackle a jazz/broadway classic and transform it successfully into nervy modern blues-rock isn't easy but Lister pulls it off with aplomb.
