Fact #21910

When:

Short story:

UK music publication Jazz News reports that, "Mick Jagger, R'n'B vocalist, is taking a rhythm and blues group into The Marquee tomorrow night." The item states that the group is called The Rolling Stones, and that its line-up is "Jagger (voc), Keith Richards, Elmo Lewis (gtrs), Dick Taylor (bass), 'Stu' (piano), Mike Avery (drs)". 'Elmo Lewis' is, in fact, Brian Jones, Dick Taylor will leave to join The Pretty Things, 'Stu' is Ian Stewart, later demoted to roadie, and 'Mike Avery' is actually Mick Avory, later to find fame with The Kinks. The item further reports that "A second group under Long John Baldry will also be there.".
