John Entwistle (bassist, The Who) : When we recorded our first LP and wanted a bit of a different sound, Pete told our manager, Kit Lambert, that I could play trumpet. He thought Pete was joking at first but then said he'd give it a try. I showed him I could play the trumpet and in the end we used French horn.
Colin Jones (photographer) : They were recording with Shel Talmy, for the last time as it turned out. I was amazed at the speed with which it came together. Literally, pete would have the song written on the back of a cigarette packet and, before you knew it, it was on tape.
