Full article:

Eric Burdon (vocals, The Animals] : I don't like it. It's the first time I've ever recorded anything I didn't want to do and it's going to be the last... With our group, somehow, over the last few months, we've forgotten completely about rhythm. We must get more beat over to the kids. It's the reason why The Stones have been so successful on the American negro scene - because they get more rhythm than song over. We've tended to get restricted rhythmically, so I want to change.

Chas Chandler : He (Burdon) always had terrible trouble with his timing. It was the first time we'd ever recorded outside of DeLane Lea. By this time we were so brassed off with (producer) Mickie Most, we weren't going to do things his way - he was going to do things our way. Well, we were in California and he wanted us to come back to London to record the single. We said, "Fuck you, you come out here." So he did. Anyway, Eric hated the song because he couldn't sing it. In the end, I had to sing along so he could hear my voice to his cans and sing to my timing. It took him forever. Even in 1983, on the world tour, he'd still turn round to me and grin during the intro to that number.
