When:

Short story:

T-bone Walker plays at The Marquee, London, England, UK, Europe, supported by Gary Farr And The T-Bones.

Full article:

Keith Emerson (keyboardist, Gary Farr and the T-Bones) : In late 1964, I had been running two bands down in Brighton. One was a rock band called John Brown's Bodies, and the other was a jazz trio called the Keith Emerson Trio.

Gary Farr saw me playing in 1965 and invited me to join his band as replacement for one of their two guitarists. When I joined, the line up was me on organ/piano, Gary on vocals, Winston Weatherall on lead guitar, Stu Parks on bass and Brian 'Legs' Walkley on drums.

We all stayed at the Sussex Gardens Hotel. We were managed by Giorgio Gomelsky, and had a residency at The Marquee in the summer of 1965. We played as the backing band to T-bone Walker one night. The first single I played on with them was a kind of gospel-jazz thing, If I Had A Ticket, which also featured Chris Barber on trombone.

The dope scene in London was rampant, but I was very innocent then and didn't partake. One night in September at The Marquee, our bass player Stu rolled and lit up a huge spliff before the show. He was so out of it, he didn't realise he was still unplugged until about the middle of the third song. Then, when he plugged in, he was so elated he jumped up and down, forgetting that The Marquee roof was dangerously low. Next thing, I look over, and he's on the floor, out cold.

Another night, we played a University gig in Somerset. We'd just done the soundcheck and we were looking for the toilets, but they turned out to be miles away. We were desperate, so somebody suggested we should just pee into these pint glasses we had in the dressing room. So we did, and went off to the bar again.
