In fact, the kids weren't too interested in jazz, so we pruned out the jazzier numbers. They're mad on rock'n'roll.
They're a bit unused to it really. They appreciate it in an entirely different way – a better way. Like so many continental countries, especially Sweden and Finland, it's the boys who are most appreciative. The girls don't scream.
They can't get records over there, but they listen to radio. There are programmes like For Your Tape Recorder. Some kids mentioned listening to Radio Luxembourg. They were familiar with Do Wah Diddy, Sha La La, 5-4-3-2-1 and some knew If You Gotta Go. They'd heard it on Lux's Top 20 show.
