Rod Goodway (Rod And The Sceptres) : After supporting some local groups we suddenly began getting a following of our own and, within a year, we were playing two or three gigs a week and planning to make some sort of living out of it. Then, after one late night gig too many and on the way home, I hit a tree! Total write-off of the vehicle and I was in a coma with blood transfusions and a broken hip!

It took a couple of months to get back onstage, but I managed it, on crutches … with a stuffed parrot on my shoulder! However, we used the time off to update things a bit and renamed ourselves The Pack.
