A week after the kidnapping, three perpetrators will be arrested. At their trial, in the Spring of 1964, the defendants will claim that Frank Jr. had orchestrated the abduction as an elaborate publicity stunt, but no evidence will be presented to support the accusation. The main perpetrator, Barry Keenan, will serve 4-and-a-half years in federal prison, before going on to become a successful real-estate developer. The principle of not being allowed to profit from crimes through book and movie sales will result from this crime and will be entered into American law.
