While recording an appearance on ABC-tv tv show Thank Your Lucky Stars in Birmingham, England, UK, Europe, The Rolling Stones meet Gene Pitney for the first time, and a long-lasting friendship is forged. During the meeting, The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger and Keith Richards present Pitney with one of their first songwriting efforts, My Only Girl. Retitled That Girl Belongs To Yesterday, it will become a modest hit for Pitney on both sides of the Atlantic, making it the first Jagger-Richards composition to reach the Billboard charts in the USA.
