Marshall Chess [Chess Records] : My first exciting job was when Chuck Berry came out of prison. He returned to Chicago and he was wearing what he had from prison. I was given $200 by my father to take him to State Street to buy him new suits and dress him up. We recorded Nadine just a few days later, and he'd written that in prison. Then I went to the West Coast with him for ten days and he played San Francisco and San Diego with pick-up bands.
