Full article:

Betty Harris : My manager, Marvin 'Babe' Chivian, introduced me to (record producer and songwriter) Bert Berns. When I heard Solomon's [Solomon Burke] version of Cry To Me, I said, "Yeah, I don't mind singing it, but that's not the way I feel it." And I went in and I started singing it accapella, and Bert said, "Wait a minute, wait a minute!" And he sent someone upstairs to get Gary Sherman. Gary came down and played what I sang on piano. He wrote an arrangement of Cry To Me that really captured the feel of what I was trying to portray in my interpretation of this song. I sang this song and then I was able to get into it real good. And a week later we were in the studio and we did exactly three takes on it. And by the time we finished with that song everybody was crying.
