Music publisher Jim Denny dies of cancer at Saint Thomas - West Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. A former house manger for the Grand Ole Opry, Denny had gone on to become an influential talent booker, and joined Webb Pierce in forming Cedarwood Publishing, one of Nashville's first music publishing ventures.
