Over 40 respected jazz musicians including Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck, Cannonball Adderley and Billy Taylor (who also serves as emcee), gather in the back yard of baseball star Jackie Robinson's home in North Stamford, Connecticut, USA. The event proves so successful that it will eventually become known as the first annual Jackie Robinson Jazz Festival. They raise $15,000 which is donated to Martin Luther King.
