Tony Bramwell (assistant road manager) : I think it was at Hanley, on the second night of the tour, that Roy Orbison realised he couldn't follow The Beatles. The screaming was becoming incredible, Beatlemania was really kicking in. So he graciously decided that he would close the first half and The Beatles would top the bill.
Roy Orbison : I had already decided to let them close the show, because everything I was doing was a ballad and they were doing Twist And Shout and all these fast numbers. So I let them close the show and it helped them internationally.
