John Entwistle (bassist, The Who) : I never liked that song. I hated playing it on stage. It’s very … The Seeker and Relay are two of my least favourite songs. They rely entirely on feel, which is awkward. I don’t think we ever got the feel on record or on stage. It was there on the demos. They should have stayed demos. I didn’t like them as songs, and I was never sure what Pete was trying to do on them.

Roger Daltrey (vocals, The Who) : I’ve always found it a bit ploddy. It’s a real late 60’s rhythm. I don’t like it that much.

Pete Townshend (guitarist, The Who) : Daltrey often sang songs I’d written that he didn’t care for with complete commitment, and I took him for granted. I said what I wanted to say, often ignoring or being terribly patronising about the rest of the group’s suggestions, then sulked when they didn’t worship me for making life financially viable.
