The best fiddlers from local heats of a fiddle competition sponsored by automobile manufacturer Henry Ford, play in The Brown Theatre, Louisville, Kentucky, USA. The winner, 60-year-old shoemaker W.H. Elmore from West Baden, Indiana, is named the "Champion of Dixie". Second and third places are taken by John L. Stevens [aka Uncle Bunt] and Marshall Claiborne. These three men will go on to represent the South in the championship contest in Detroit, Michigan.
