Short story:

While being interviewed by John Burks of Rolling Stone magazine in New York City, USA, Jimi Hendrix states that The Experience is re-forming.

Full article:

Jimi Hendrix (to John Burks) : We’re in the process of getting our own thing together now again. We’ll have time scheduled in a way so there’ll be time on the side to play with your friends… I’ll be jamming with Billy and Buddy and probably recording too, on the side.

We’re going to go out somewhere into the hills and woodshed or whatever you call it, to get some new songs and arrangements and stuff together. So we’ll have something new to offer, whether it’s different or not.

Mitch Mitchell (drummer, JHE) : After the interview, Jimi went back to his apartment and I went back to my hotel and, within a few hours, I’d got a call from him… it came down to ‘What do you think?’ I knew that he meant Noel. It was very tricky. Jimi and I had great affection for Noel as a player and for his humour, but something didn’t feel right… In the end, it came out in Billy Cox’s favour.

Buddy Miles (drummer, Band Of Gypsys) : The reason the band (Band Of Gypsys) folded up so quickly was because Jimi’s manager, Mike Jeffery, did not want him playing in an all-black band. He was very obviously prejudiced, but Jimi was signed up to him to the point where he couldn’t get out.
