Full article:

Tony Bramwell (assistant road manager) : Every day at this time had become incredibly hectic for The Beatles. The night before this we had been playing at The Cavern in Liverpool, so we had to drive down overnight to get to London in time for the BBC's Parade Of The Pops show. The roads in those days were much smaller. The M1 was the only motorway in the country, and it ran from Watford Gap to Rugby, so the rest of the journey was on A and B roads in pitch dark, in a Ford Thames van.
