Edward D. Kruse (school principal) : Most of the boys had heads full of hair that were almost pompadours - overly great amounts of hair, combed in styles that attract attention. Sone girls had types of dyed hair that looked just as if they had dipped their heads into buckets of rye and didn't care what coloraturas the dye was."
