Fact #172581

When:

Short story:

Mudhoney arrive in the UK to begin a tour.

Full article:

Mark Arm (Mudhoney) : England caught on to Sub Pop much quicker than America did. The local press in Seattle wouldn’t give us the time of day until the British rock papers started writing about us. Then they decided we were great, even though half of them hadn’t even bothered to come out and see us play a gig.

At that time, Nirvana was like our little brother band. Chris had been coming to gigs I played at since 1984, and I’d met Kurt back in 87. We were very close friends, but Mudhoney was the more popular of the two. The Seattle bands were generally very supportive of each other, so we would do anything to help them, get them gigs, because we knew they were a great band.

It seemed at that point we could do no wrong in England. We rolled around the stage on our backs, girls threw panties at us, those shows were a blast.
