Fact #171483

When:

Short story:

Chas Chandler, co-manager of Jimi Hendrix, returns to London, England, UK, Europe, from Los Angeles, California, USA, resolved to end his association with Hendrix and the other co-manager, Mike Jeffery.

Full article:

Bob Levine (Hendrix management staff) : He knew there would be destruction if he continued with Jeffery. He specifically requested John Hillman to make some kind of settlement that would not interfere with or hurt Jimi. Chas earned a great deal of respect for that, because a lot of people would have said, 'Never mind Jimi, I'm going to get what's mine.'

John Hillman (lawyer) : I had to referee that split. I tried to do what was fair financially, but there was no way I could settle it emotionally. That would never be settled and Chas remained very bitter.

Noel Redding : Chandler had been there from the beginning. He was a guy you could talk to. He kept Hendrix in control, both in and out of the studio. Jeffery didn't care about Mitchell or I. To him, Jimi was the star.
