Fact #169408

When:

Short story:

The Jam play at Cliffs Pavilion, Westcliff-On-Sea, England, UK, Europe.

Full article:

Phil Jupitus (audience) : The Pavilion was really small so you could actually get near the band. I battled my way to the front and ended up about two bodies back, in front of Weller. I was transfixed. The nurses were on strike at the time so I shouted, ‘Play one for the nurses.’ Weller looked down at me and smiled. Amazing. I thought, ‘If I can make Weller smile, the rest of England’ll be easy.’
