Johnny Black (music journalist) : I was at this show. Regrettably managed to miss O.M.D., who I love, but had to endure Power Station who were thuddingly dreadful.

Earlier in the day I encountered the service known as We Deliver. I was in the hotel room of Duran Duran’s publicist, Nick Underwood, discussing an interview I was supposed to be conducting with the band, who were proving elusive.

Anyway, Nick got in touch with We Deliver – a drug delivery service dealing exclusively in marijuana and, apparently, tolerated by The Police . For $35 Nick was offered a selection of different grasses and given an apology that there was, temporarily, no hash available.

Forty-five minutes later a tall bike messenger arrived at the door, opened his coat and unrolled a leather apron laden with small pouches stuffed with sundry grasses. “We have a very fine Red Lebanese,” he suggested, “or the Panama is great too.”

Nick made his choice, paid his cash, and the messenger left. It was as open and simple as having flowers delivered.
