Howard Johnson (vocalist, Dawn After Dark) : A splendidly euphoric occasion, where the miserabilism of Joy Division and the Bunnymen seemed swept away by this very hairy and non-PC scene, all about going out, having a laugh and getting drunk. Miles Hunt was wonderfully charismatic and there was something marvellously ironic about the lyrics. The Poppies were still mainly a guitars and drums band, although they were just starting to mess about with samples and rap vocals. After this gig, everything changed as the bands moved away to London to find greater success.
