Gary Rostock (drummer, Easterhouse) : The only time I saw them play better than at Barrowlands in 1985. The PA stack nearly came off the stage and they had to do structural repairs after the gig upstairs.
Johnny Marr (the Smiths) : That would have been one of Morrissey's great ideas. I'm not being sarcastic; it was a great idea. It was very unusual at that time for someone of our status to play Salford University - or for to play Salford University. It was a fantastic gig. And for me, it really sweetened up the experience of the day before.
