Jonathan Green (audience) : Sheffield being Synth City at that time, the anticipation had been mounting for months, but they didn’t disappoint. The set was futuristic and technological, with huge TV screens, the like of which we’d never seen before. At the end, when they came to the front of the stage and let people play their pocket calculators, they were obviously having a wonderful time, poking fun at themselves. I’ve seen them often since, but it never had that impact again.
