Tony Wilson (co-owner, The Hacienda) : I’m not sure how ecstasy got to the Hacienda, but I know it came in 1987. And I know its arrival had something to do with Happy Mondays and their shady friends. They’d discovered E in Amsterdam in 1986, then discovered it again in Ibiza. They were selling it. So, suddenly, there were scallies on E instead of Stella.
