Johnny Marr (guitarist, The Smiths) : It was always horrible for us, playing The Tube because we weren't their kind of band. We were like a curio. We only got on because we were making a splash so they felt they ought to have us. We got treated shabbily by the production crew, like we were second class citizens. The only one who was nice to us was Jools Holland. We got short-changed on the sound check that day, so the sound was useless.
