Nick Beggs (Kajagoogoo) : It was very frustrating, though, that whole particular time for me. Kajagoogoo had been around since 1979 and all of a sudden in 1982 we signed our record deal. I moved to London and in '83 we had a number one and everyone was saying we were an overnight success! But to me it didn't seem like that, because we'd been working very hard around the clubs. I think the record company slipped up and I think we were not in tune enough to recognise what they were doing, and the detrimental effect it was going to have - going and telling everyone: "This band is going to be massive". Of course they were right and they saw the potential ... I saw the potential in Limahl the first day I auditioned him! It didn't take too much intelligence to see there was something that worked there, and a record company would be very quick to pick up on that. But if we'd been more in tune I would have told them : "Shut up, we'll do it our way".
