Al Kooper (founder, Blood, Sweat And Tears) : it was through my old friend Paul Simon that I hooked up with John Simon, who was their producer at the time.
When they were doing the Bookends album, I hung around a lot during those sessions, so I got John in the studio by myself and I played him I Can't Quit Her, My Days Are Numbered and I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know. I told him I was trying to put a band together to do these songs. And he said, 'Well, if you ever get that band together, I would love to produce those songs.' That's how he came to produce the first Blood, Sweat And Tears album, Child Is Father To The Man.
