Fact #158158

When:

Short story:

The Who play at the City Hall, Sheffield, England, UK, Europe.

Full article:

John Entwistle (bassist, The Who) : We were asking for trouble, playing little piss-hole places with a shitty sound, and playing four brand new numbers that no-one had ever heard before, when we hadn’t played for about three months.

I hate playing small places. The Who aren’t geared to play them.

Our system was built up over the years to stadium level and, once you get into that way of playing, you can’t suddenly scale down. The Who don’t sound like The Who in those places.
