Never On Sunday, the title theme from the film of the same name, with music and lyrics by Manos Hadjidakis, wins the Best Original Song Oscar.

Neil Sedaka : Connie Francis asked us to do a song entitled Where The Boys Are and I ended up doing the entire soundtrack for the movie of the same name. But I was squeezed out of the Academy Awards. It was the biggest-selling record from a movie that year and Joe Pasternak, the producer, said, 'I assure you you'll get a nomination.' But we didn't, because rock'n'roll was a no-no. It wasn't 'legitimate' so Never On Sunday won.
